Dr. Maria Montessori overcame many challenges to become the first female physician in Italy. A scientist with compassion, she saw a need for change in the traditional education system that failed to meet the needs of all children. Through over 50 years of scientific study, Dr. Montessori developed a specific method of education that allowed students deemed uneducable to excel beyond their peers. One hundred years later, the Montessori method is recognized and utilized around the world for all children.
Dr. Montessori recognized that children have a natural drive to reach their full potential when given opportunites to engage in meaningful activities. Our mixed-age classes inspire younger children to move forward and work at a higher level. Our older students learn leadership and nurturing skills. The manipulative materials help children understand advanced educational concepts at an early age. Our students develop skills of concentration, motivation and self-discipline. Gifted and struggling students from other disciplines discover they can easily reach their full potential, as is reflected by our high test scores.
In 1929, Dr. Montessori established the Association of Montessori Internationale (AMI) to protect her educational philosophy from diluting influences and insure the integrity of the Montessori training.
The RMA staff is committed to the AMI Montessori philosophy by providing:
* An advanced educational environment focused on understanding your childrens individual needs and helping them achieve their full potential.
* A non-violent community with high expectations regarding behavior that is designed to foster self-control and compassion while having lots of fun.
* An on-going, collaborative relationship between teachers and parents; with regular conferences focusing on your childs achievements, goal setting and educational opportunities regarding the Montessori philosophy and materials.
* A community dedicated to promoting healthy physical, social and intellectual development.
